The Mesa, located in south Palm Springs, is a non-gated, eclectic mountainside community that blends old Palm Springs and new contemporary architecture.  It is a favorite neighborhood of numerous celebrities including Lilly Tomlin, Barry Manilow, Suzanne Somers and Henry Mancini.

The Mesa community was established in the early 1920’s by Edmond Fulford, a successful Los Angeles businessman. Fulford had a vision of building a unique community in a secluded Palm Springs location so he started at the lowest slopes of the San Jacinto Mountains in an area that provided protection from the desert winds. He planned to create an exclusive gated community that was entered through a common main entrance but his plan never materialized. However, a remaining remnant of the original gatehouse still stands between South Palm Canyon and Mesa Drive on El Portal and is now considered an iconic representation of The Mesa neighborhood. Homes are on fee land (you own the land).

Home prices range from $800,000s to $14+ million.  No HOA.

The Mesa is located off South Palm Canyon Dr and East Palm Canyon Dr.
